Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, is celebrated by billions across the globe. It falls on a date determined by the lunar calendar, usually between January 21 and February 20. Each year is represented by an animal from the zodiac, rotating in a 12-year cycle. In 2025, we welcome the Year of the Snake.
We celebrated Lunar New Year with fun and engaging activities for all our students. Children explored Chinese writing, practising simple characters using different materials. We also shared a sensory story about the Chinese zodiac animals, using textures, sounds, and movement to bring the story to life.
Our celebrations continued with a special assembly, where we learnt about Lunar New Year traditions and symbols. It was a wonderful way for everyone to take part in and enjoy the festivities.
